Best Trick or Treating Neighborhoods in San Diego for 2026
San Diego goes ALL OUT for Halloween! I posted a question in my stories asking for the best spots for trick-or-treating and you delivered. Here is a map of all the submissions. Please note that some are houses, some are streets, and some are neighborhoods. Just drive around near where the pin is and you will find it! Have a fun and happy Halloween night with your little ghosts and little ghouls!
Halloween 2026 falls on a Saturday this year, so expect bigger crowds than usual in the popular neighborhoods. Plan to park a few blocks away and walk in.
If you know of a neighborhood that needs to be on the list, please send me a DM on Instagram and I will add it to the map.
If you’re looking for the best Halloween events for families, I have info on that too! Here are my top choices for family-friendly Halloween events for 2026.
I also have a list of the best Halloween decorations and haunted houses, that’s here! San Diegans go all out on Halloween spirit and giant Jack Skellingtons. Most Halloween decor stays up for the whole Halloween season.
Your Top Trick or Treat Neighborhoods:
- Bressi Ranch in Carlsbad (especially Peppertree Way). Readers say it gets very packed, so park on the edge of the neighborhood and walk in.
- Del Sur in San Diego (near 4S Ranch). Also gets packed, so plan to walk in.
- Del Cerro in San Diego
- San Elijo Hills in San Marcos
- South Park in San Diego (near North Park)
- Porch Swing Street in Eastlake, Chula Vista
- Christmas Card Lane in Rancho Peñasquitos
- Old Poway area
- Del Mar Heights
- Harmony Grove Village in Escondido
- Carmel Country Highlands in Carmel Valley
- Serra Mesa Navy townhouses. Easy to walk, and nearly every door has candy.
- Pacific Beach: Opal Street, right off the Garnet exit
- Bird Rock in La Jolla
- Village Park in Encinitas
- Arroyo Vista in Carlsbad
- Arrowood in Oceanside
- Stuart Street in Oceanside. More of a party vibe, but lots of families go too.
- Lake Rancho Viejo in Fallbrook. Fun for kids and adults!
More Neighborhoods Worth the Drive:
- Santa Fe Hills in San Marcos: often called the best trick-or-treating neighborhood in San Diego County.
- Kensington: the best stretch is Marlborough Dr between Adams Ave and El Cajon Blvd.
- Mission Hills: historic homes, spooky decor, and hundreds of trick-or-treaters.
- Coronado: Margarita Avenue closes to cars and almost every house decorates.
- Carmel Mountain Ranch: a quieter option with some very elaborate houses.
- Dallas Street in La Mesa: a fun street to walk on Halloween night.
- Normal Heights and Talmadge: walkable neighborhoods with lots of decorated porches.
- Maryland Street in University Heights: check out the 4000 block for animatronics and a steam-blowing dragon.

Allow me to introduce myself…
My name is Camille! I am a San Diego stay-at-home mom who is never ever at home. I share a lot of fun things to do around San Diego including parks, restaurants, LEGOLAND, the zoo etc.
My goal with my Instagram account and blog is to make any mom feel prepared for any outing with her kids so that she doesn’t have to stay home unless she wants to. Getting out with my kids was key for me in overcoming postpartum depression so I try to pay it forward by sharing what we do to help other moms in a similar situation. Read more about my story here.
Thanks so much for reading!
If you find any of this information to be incorrect or need updating, please send me an email to sandiegomamas@gmail.com or a DM on Instagram to @sandiego.mamas. There is a reason I chose to call this San Diego MamaS (plural) not San Diego Mama. It takes our whole mom community (which now includes you!) to make sure I can share the most accurate information for your family.
Sharing this post helps the mom behind you and helps my page grow! Please feel free to share this link with any other mom who might need it!
