Brick or Treat at LEGOLAND California Resort is a super fun way to celebrate Halloween with your kids! LEGOLAND Park’s signature Halloween event runs most Saturdays and Sundays in October as well as some Saturdays in September.
You can find tons of Halloween shows, trick or treating, special ride overlays, a monster party, costume contests, and more. Brick or Treat borrows from and improves upon theme park Halloween parties from around Southern California. Here is an event guide to help you make the most of your visit!

Is it worth the price?
Here are some things to consider before getting tickets: If you are NOT a season passholder and coming here on a San Diego vacation, the rides are going to be very crowded. So you may not be able to do many rides while there! The September days tend to be less crowded than October.
The Brick-or-Treat guests are mixed in with the regular guests (more on that in a bit). If you ARE a season pass holder, it is absolutely worth it. The $24 price point is an easy yes! This is my favorite Halloween party of the year because it’s just the right amount of spooky for kids.

How do I get tickets? Do I need a separate ticket for Brick or Treat?
To get tickets, you only need to buy a regular LEGOLAND ticket for a day Brick or Treat is happening. You do not need a separate ticket from your regular LEGOLAND ticket because. These are the event dates: September 20 + 27, Saturdays & Sundays in October, November 1
Generally, it’s Saturdays & Sundays during the Halloween Season. You should note that these events make LEGOLAND more crowded because everyone is lumped together in the park, unlike Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney where they usher the “regular” guests out when the party starts.
Right now it’s between $89 and $124 for a ticket. Prices increase after Labor Day so if you want to go, book soon! Click here to book tickets.
Note that this festival IS part of Kids Go Free October. You will need to purchase a Park Hopper for that. More info coming when they release that deal next month, check my Instagram for updates.

What makes it different from a regular day at LEGOLAND?
Lots of limited-time attractions! There are ride overlays such as the Disco Dragon Coaster, live shows such as The Grave Diggers, Monster Rocker, the zombie cheer crew, we got to meet Lord Vampyre and Spider Lady and lots of LEGO Monsters! We loved the Wacky Witch Trail in Fun Town and the Monster Meet for Wolf Guy and Tiger Woman.
The Monster Security Checkpoint Street Performers were a family favorite. They had a little area for kids to walk through and it would check to see if they were monsters or not monsters. Then they would have a monster dance party!
There’s also their famous costume contest over on the lawn by the Ninjago area. There are extra prizes for the best monster costume! You can wander the prehistoric pumpkin patch over by the LEGO Movie World. Don’t miss the Great Monster Chase movie in the theater by the Ninjago playground.
Then you have all the regular hands-on theme park experience with a Halloween spin (like making LEGO spiders!). The Sea Life Aquarium and Water Park are also open during the Brick-or-Treat times, but you will need a Park Hopper to access those.

What ages is Brick or Treat appropriate for?
The ideal LEGOLAND age is 3-12 with some wiggle room on either end. If your kid is still into trick-or-treating they would be into this. My 6-year-old had the most fun with my 9-year-old coming in a close second. Even if they aren’t into the shows, there is a playground around every corner and lots of rides and building stations! I would bring a toddler or preschooler to Brick-or-Treat. There’s nothing too scary or spooky. It’s all good Halloween fun.

What are the can’t-miss activities for 2025?
Here is a non-exhaustive list of what we liked best. We will be going to one of their preview events so check my IG post for an updated list:
- Monster Detector: My kids LOVED this. It’s over by the Ninjago entrance. The kids walk through a metal detector (monster detector) and it declares them a monster, princess, or it declared me a mommy. Sometimes it starts impromptu monster dance parties.
- Brain Candy: They give out massive silly straw bags by the market (where the new roller coaster is going to be).
- Spiderling Build: Build a spider and put it on the giant spiderweb! This is by where they sell apple fries on your way to the horse ride.
- Zombie Cheer Crew: I loved this show! It’s over in Fun Town this year.
- The Monster Rock Off: This show was great! Excellent music and costumes.
- Costume contest + parade: In Miniland. Only happens once, so check the app for times. The prizes are free LEGOLAND tickets and a free LEGOLAND hotel stay! And there are three winners every hour.
- Skeleton Rock Band: This one was my favorite!
- Once Upon a Brick – The Tale of the Wolf Guy: This show was super cute and good for the little kids.
Make sure to check the app for times. They also have a feature where you can add the shows to a plan.
Is Brick or Treat included for LEGOLAND annual passholders?
It is included for Elite annual passes, but you will still need to make a reservation to go online (scroll to the bottom of the page). The reservation is free. If you have a Gold, Silver, or Platinum season pass, you will need to make a $24 reservation to go. You can do this at this link (Click Boo-k and scroll to the bottom of the page).

What is the best time to arrive?
The festivities go from 3-9 pm, but there are some shows in the morning. The trick-or-treating doesn’t start until 3 pm. I found that the most crowded time was between 3-6. After that it opened up and there was no wait for anything!
This year we got there early (10 am) and did the themed ride overlays and the early shows so we had plenty of time for trick or treating.
Are all the kids dressed up? What about the adults?
I would say most kids were dressed up. There were a few with pumpkin shirts. I went to the first day in September, so it’s possible they didn’t have their costumes yet. A few adults dressed up. It was not like Disney where everyone is in a decked out costume, so if you want to just wear normal clothes nobody is going to think you’re weird.
This is a family-friendly event so the characters aren’t too spooky for little kids. They try to make it a fun experience for everyone even the littlest kids!

How crowded is Brick or Treat?
Crowded. My first thought when we entered the park was: who are all these people? If you’re spoiled by a crowd-free LEGOLAND because you’re a season pass holder, you might feel overwhelmed. I would just focus on the Halloween events/playgrounds and don’t try to wait in long lines. If you really want to ride rides, I would consider using Reserve and Ride. I wrote a whole post on how that works and what it costs. Here is the link to that: https://sandiegomamas.com/reserve-and-ride-legoland-california/
There’s enough to do without riding rides at this event. The closer it gets to the park close, the shorter the lines will get. You could also try getting there right at the park opening and doing rides then.

Is trick-or-treating included and where are the trails? Do they give out a lot of candy?
Yes, it is included, they even give you a bag! The treat trails are all over the park. There are a ton of treat stations in nearly every corner. They give out a LOT of candy. Like so much I am storing it all to hand out again on Halloween because I don’t want my kids eating that much candy. Most of it is sour chewy candy, but I DID find some chocolate for Mom by Miniland. One of the trails was giving out gogo squeez packets which I appreciated!
Are all the rides open? Can you go to LEGOLAND on a Brick or Treat day and not do Brick or Treat, just ride the rides?
Yes, all the rides are open. The waterpark is even open on some days. Yes you could definitely do this, but you are going to encounter a lot of crowds. Everyone is mixed together, there’s no separate admission for Brick-or-Treat. If you’re not interested in the Halloween stuff, I highly recommend going on a weekday if you can. The crowds will be a lot lighter. I assume they leave up the Halloween decor as well. There is a lot of it and it would take ages to take down and put back up.

Tips for Visitors
If you’re visiting there are a few hotel packages you can take advantage of. The LEGOLAND hotel allows you to stay in themed rooms which is super fun for the kiddos! The LEGOLAND Castle Hotel and the regular themed hotels are equally fun and give a great LEGO experience. Hotel guests also get early access to the resort and get free breakfast buffet access. You could also consider the Sheraton and Westin behind LEGOLAND resort that both have private entrances near the Castle Hill playground. Passholders get 15% off hotel bookings.
While visiting, you might also consider more Halloween spirit through the special event HalGLOWeen at The San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park. The Sea World San Diego Halloween event isn’t as elaborate or at least it wasn’t last year. And if you’re visiting during the fall it’s sure to be warm so make sure to visit the nearest beach: Carlsbad State Beach!
